Been hearing about MP4 Players and wondering whether you should go for one or not? Before you come to any such concrete decisions, have a run through of all the features that an MP4 would be able to provide you with.
There may be people who would argue that it is better to keep your MP3 Player as it plays media files of the MP4 Format as well, but the sweet truth is that the MP4 Players do more than just play songs and videos, these are capable of playing the radio, audio books and the more expensive ones can even store video games; what is more the best of the lot are also capable of television reception as well as capturing videos! However, the bitter truth of the matter is that an MP4 player would not be as tiny as your MP3 Player was, mainly because of its screen that is quite large it would not be pocket sized, but definitely portable, the smallest ones capable of fitting onto your palm.
So with the MP4 as well you get to choose between two of its kind, the hard drive MP4 Player and the Flash Memory one. However it would always be more advisable to go for the Hard Drive MP4 as it would allow more screen space to view videos (Flash Memory MP4's have smaller screens and thus a smaller body as a whole) and also the storage space would not be enough for the large size of the videos that you would most likely be storing on it. So if you are really considering buying an MP4 that would come handy for carrying videos, go for a Hard Drive MP4 Player.
These hard Drive MP4 Players have a lot larger storage capacity of more than 100GB. Another great advantage of these Hard Drive MP4 Players is that they can also easily be used to transfer data from computers to other computers etc.
MP4 typically support many more File Formats than the Mp3 Players that were just being spoken about. Besides the media files of the MP1,Mp2 and MP3 versions of songs and videos it can also play videos of the DivX or AVI etc and for audio as well they can play WMA etc. Besides this great feature of being able to play various kinds of media files, many of these MP4 Players also have a Television tuner and a docking station that could receive Television reception; this comes as an accessory of the Mp4 Player. Besides that, many of these Mp4 players also have a camcorder attached to the system as a means of recording video as and when required on the go.
So if you buy one MP4 player it is equal to several other gadgets that you would normally have also bought and carried with you. But instead you get to buy one device and own in addition to all that, all these features. So does MP3 move over now? |

First of all, before you go ahead and spend money on an MP4 player, you must make sure that you know all its functions and uses. An MP4 player unlike an MP3 Player would allow you to store and playback video and audio files along with text files and eBooks etc. Now that being said you have to decide whether you would need all these features out of your media gadget. However you need not worry about the price as retail markets have opened up the possibility of these MP4 Players to also be available at quite a reasonable range.
So before you go shopping for your MP4 player you must make sure you have certain basic requirements cleared out. Firstly, ask yourself what functions you would like out of your MP4 or rather why are you buying the MP4. So if you are planning on watching a lot of full length films or broadcast television shows or even read eBooks, then your basic requirement out of the MP4 would be a large screen for best visibility and also a large storage capacity to store all those files. If such is your requirement then you should look for an MP4 that has at least 10 to 120 GB storage. The larger the memory and screen for this kind of usage the better it would be for you. However, if you need the device only to listen to music and some music videos here and there, the memory and even the screen would not be of much importance then and you can make do with a memory of anywhere between 2 to 8 GB.
Secondly, according to your budget and also according to your requirement, you must select the MP4, whether a branded one or a counterfeit. A branded MP4 such as one of Apple or creative Zen would offer you the cream of the cream, from best functions and a great warranty; however there are also many counterfeit Mp4s that are available for much cheaper price and have the uniqueness of appearance along with great storage capacity and features. The only problem with these products is there warranty.
Also, when you are selecting an MP4 you must make sure that you have all the details of the kinds of formats that the device supports. There are many MP4 Players that do not support the MPEG4 format for video files. So you need to be careful while selecting and make sure that the kinds of File formats that you use for media files are all supported by the MP4 that you are buying. Besides these, you should also go through the additional accessories that come along with the device and purchase one according to your needs. |

For starters, MP3 and MP4 players have a few things in common; they are similar devices. They are both digital media players and that being said it means that they are the kinds of device which can store, consequently organize and later playback media files. The biggest difference between MP3 and MP4 players is the kind of media files that they store. MP3 Players on the one hand support the storing and playing of audio files while MP4 Players are much more advanced in the way that they can store and playback all kinds of files which includes audio and video media files.
As mentioned before there are various similarities between the two kinds of Players as well; after all the MP4 Players are simply the more modern and improvised successors of the MP3 Players that were originally released as early as the early 1990’s. Hence, the major similarity between the two kinds of players is the way in which they function, that is how they store and organize the media files that are stored in the devices. Both the kinds of Media Players store the files by compressing the media files that are to be stored in these devices. Therefore in both the MP3 as well as the MP4 players, a large number of media files can be stored together on the same device.
Therefore that being the similarity, the difference between these two kinds of devices lies in the fact that the MP4 players are more advanced than the MP3 Players, therefore not just audio but one can have an MP4 Player that plays back both video and audio files and also one can view documents and text files if stored on the device. Although you might find that an MP3 player would also have a screen but do not be disillusioned as these screens are used to do no more than scroll through the list of audio tracks etc. So on an MP4 Player, the screen would also be pretty wide and would be clear enough for viewing photographs and video clips and even eBooks etc. However another thing you need to be careful about is that many of these MP4 players that are available for buying may not support the MP4 format of media files and so you need to be careful when you are buying the MP4 player and even if you buy one you need to make sure that you do not store any MP4 files on the player as those would be rendered useless.
All that being said, both these digital media players are useful where entertainment and storage is concerned and go ahead with one as per your needs. |
